12th Grade

The theme of this year is "It"s not over until it is over.' "Don"t count your chickens until they hatch.' Basically, outcome of a situation is not assured until the end. Let"s finish our senior year strong then celebrate all of your accomplishments!

Counselors will be working with 12th grade students on the following:

  • Discussing post Secondary Options (College, Vocational Schools, Careers, Military)
  • Making sure students applying to 4 year colleges are aware of college deadlines and necessary official documents.
  • Senior One on One with the Counselor (Reviewing graduation track)
  • Taking or Retaking SAT and/or ACT for college admissions
  • Completing Free Financial Aid Applications (FAFSA or Dream ACT)
  • Letters of Recommendation requests to teachers and counselors, if your college requires this.
  • Apply to multiple scholarships. Ask counseling
  • Naviance - Review with your counselor how to navigate your Naviance account.

SENIORITIS: DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!

Definition: A supposed affliction of students in their final year of high school, characterized by a decline in motivation or performance.

  • Stay Focused

  • Stay Organized

  • Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

  • Remember All the Hard Work

  • Colleges Can Change Their Minds

"How do I add schools that I am applying to on my Naviance Account?'

Please see the Naviance tab under "College and Career'. There are how to videos on Youtube along with a CHS Job Aid. It is important for students to tell Naviance where the student is applying so Clairemont can know too. Students can request sending official documents to colleges through Naviance (See "Requesting CHS Transcripts Tab'). See your counselor or Registrar for assistance.

"Where do I apply to Colleges?

Please click on the 4 year College Tab or Community College tab depending on the schools you are referring to. There will be links to colleges under Common App, UC and CSU Colleges. Common App is a system that allows you to fill out one college application and send to multiple colleges (See Common App list of schools) like the UC and CSU college application system. Out of state schools, check with their website to find their application.
